Sacramento, CA — The Olive Oil Commission of California will hold a Grower Meeting March 19 at the Robert J. Cabral Agricultural Center in Stockton.  All California olive oil growers, industry members and other interested parties are encouraged to attend to learn about the Olive Oil Commission of California (OOCC) funded research and hear an update on the organization’s activities.

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude with lunch provided by the OOCC.  The morning’s agenda features a presentation by OOCC Executive Director Chris Zanobini who will provide an overview of OOCC activities and accomplishments since its formation in 2014.

“The OOCC was created by California olive oil industry members to support California olive oil farmers by conducting research, developing quality standards and then verifying quality through mandatory government sampling and third-party analysis,” said Zanobini. “We are very excited to show producers how the program is working to ensure California olive oil is trusted and valued.”

Presentations will be provided by researchers who are working to help California olive oil farmers to better understand and control olive oil pests and disease.  Dr. Jim Adaskaveg of University of California, Riverside will provide an update on his work to control olive knot and Dr. Flourent Trouillas of Kearney Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Parlier will present findings on his Neofabraea research.
